Bible Study

Meetings:  Monday nights 7pm, at the ministry centre, Chapel Road (off Lambert Road), Indooroopilly

A bible study group meets on most Monday nights to study the gospel reading for the following Sunday. This is an open group which has been meeting for several years, the discussion led by Pastor Rick Strelan.

During the week, Rick continues to explore the gospel with commentary posted on his Facebook page “Break Open the Word”.

For more information or to enquire about coming along to the group, please contact us via the church office, church.office@stpeters.qld.edu.au or 3377 6245, and we will be pleased to get in touch with you.

Children

  • Worship services: a ‘children’s address’ is part of most regular 9am worship services. Children also participate regularly by helping with start-of-worship processions, bell ringing, candle lighting and delivering Bible readings.
  • Sunday school is held on most Sundays during the school terms. Children between 2 and 12 years of age are warmly welcomed to come along, whether regulars or visitors to St Peters.
  • Class groups from St Peters Junior School are, from to time, invited to attend a Service with their families. The children participate in the Service by reading lessons, singing and leading us in prayers. The Junior School chaplain leads and facilitates these Services, in collaboration with the congregation.

Music

Music is much loved at St Peters and is an integral part of our congregational life and its ministry outreach. The SPLC chapel houses a 3 manual pipe organ, as well as a grand piano. These are used to accompany the 9am worship service, staffed by a voluntary team of organists and pianists. Currently we use four sung liturgies, on a rotational basis. While the congregational music tends towards the traditional (and focuses on what works best with organ or piano accompaniment), it is nonetheless wide ranging and includes the best contemporary hymns and songs.

Choir

Rehearsals: Thursday evenings 7.30pm, St Peters Chapel, Chapel Road (off Lambert Road), Indooroopilly campus.

St Peters choir is a non-auditioned SATB choir and is warmly welcoming of new members of all ages and stages. The choir’s repertoire is diverse, ranging from Bach Cantatas to Gospel. They sing regularly at worship services throughout the year, and on various special occasions (e.g. Christmas, Easter, Reformation Day).  St Peters employs a professional choir director to lead the choir as part of the music ministry of our church community.

From time to time, choral bursaries are available to auditioned singers wishing to develop their singing in the context of Christian worship. For more information about joining the choir and/or the choral bursary program, please contact us via the church office, church.office@stpeters.qld.edu.au and we will be pleased to get in touch with you.

Shedmen

Meetings: 6.30pm, second Tuesday of the month, various venues.

The men of St John’s church (Corinda), St Peters (Indooroopilly) and Good News (Middle Park) meet on the third Tuesday of the month at 6.30pm on a rotational basis. The meeting is informal. The usual format is to assemble and enjoy a drink and chat while the BBQ is prepared.  After the meal the “guest speaker” leads a discussion on their particular experience or area of interest or expertise.

There is an open invitation for men of the congregation to attend.

For more information or to enquire about going along to Shedmen, please contact us via the church office, church.office@stpeters.qld.edu.au or 3377 6245, and we will be pleased to get in touch with you.

Women’s Fellowship

Meetings:   second Monday of each month, 9.30am – 1.00pm (includes lunch)

The women’s fellowship group warmly welcomes women of all ages to join them each month for a time of fellowship, Bible study and sharing over morning tea.

Our group is a member of and actively participates in the ministry of Lutheran Women of Australia. We are part of the Brisbane South and Gold Coast Zone, within the Lutheran Women of Queensland. Zone fellowship days are held twice a year. Lutheran women fellowship groups actively support a range of ministries, for example Australian Lutheran World Service, women’s refuge work, pastoral students at Australian Lutheran College, Media Ministry, the Tract Mission and local causes.

In early December, a Christmas get together is hosted by this group for women and friends, extending an invitation to women in surrounding Lutheran congregations.

For more information or to enquire about coming along to the group, please contact us via the church office, church.office@stpeters.qld.edu.au or 3377 6245, and we will be pleased to get in touch with you.

Youth

Young people are encouraged and supported to participate in Lutheran Youth of Queensland activities, such as Christian Life Week, which are held throughout the year. We also seek to actively involve young people in various ways in our worship and congregational life.
